Born in 1977 in Thetford Mines, LaBarre spent much of his childhood exercising the passion and promise he had for the love of his craft. Drawing on paper and paperboard the suggestion was put forward by a painter friend to test out this medium with colour and paint brush marks.
LaBarre is greatly influenced by artists Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez, Richard Shmid and John Singer Sargent. His works focus upon light and intimate environments with his most recent works featuring musicians in the midst of their instrumental play.
Now internationally recognized, LaBarre has featured in both solo and group exhibitions and has been the recipient of several prizes and has since received great press coverage. His work also features in both public and private collections.
LaBarre's artistic satisfaction comes from painting a portrait of singer, song writer Leonard Cohen and the artist is surely becoming a great name in today's art world.
