Producing images that allow one to escape, day dream and hope is something that the artist provides best. His work is uplifting and showcases the completely self taught artist's creative mind.
Born in 1975, in Surrey, the artist simply loved to draw and this was his favourite pass time growing up. He drew and painted numerous portraits and by the time he was sixteen Payne began selling his work and has since never looked back.
Payne obtained a degree at Southampton University in psychology and his academic background provides a great platform in his art work for understanding how certain technical elements of his pictures work best. Pursuing a career in theory, the artist specialized in the field of Autism, allowing children aid in helping to achieve and overcome difficulties they faced with the wider world.
Never far from painting, Payne continued to create unique and exciting works and then progressed to working with oil paints.
Inspired by British coastlines, Payne's work deals with landscapes and dreamy skies and his work is hugely inspired by Turner and Whistler. The quality of his works offers and intricate delicacy, whilst still allowing the viewer to escape and become engrossed in his vivid dream like palette.
The artist has proved successful today and continues to stand out from his contemporaries with the ethics and values he learnt from working alongside young autistic children. His visual language is direct and to the point and yet contains a youthful innocence to them, alike to the many children he has provided therapy for over the past several years.
