What a lovely new limited edition and reminding you instantly of the artwork 'Best Friends' (2020), which featured our two heroes sitting quietly and watching the moonlight.
I do admire Doug's use of light in 'Hedge Hugs', and perhaps the hedgehog & mouse embrace and also bask in the moonlight that is coming in on the left of our prickly’ friend (appearing as a shaft of white!).
Once again a simple image made with black and grey pastels and with just their noses giving the artwork a hint of Purple & pink colours, almost like icing on a cake!
Doug is able to take almost any animal and create an emotional response in us just by giving them some human faculty e.g.: love, emotion or 'human' touch itself, reminding us we are all connected and loving kindness is only a hug away!
