The hugely successful artist, Kerry Darlington was born in north Wales in Rhyl in 1974. From an early age the inspiration of magic, fairy tale and classic children's books have sourced her inspiration for wanting to create her own stories and enchanted images.
It was with the unique illustrations of Arthur Rackham, in particular his detailed and intricate pen and ink works that the artist Darlington became hugely influenced by and this stemmed her decision to embark on a degree in Illustration. Choosing this line of education, Darlington wanted to follow in the footsteps of inspiration and become a illustrator for children's books, however once she had begun her further studies she discovered new and exciting art movements of the great masters from the significant art movements of Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau. The intricate art details from Art Nouveau has certainly carried through in her Limited Edition works to date and it is with the beauty and grace of the Pre-Raphaelite movement that makes Darlington have a deeper understanding and connection for her subject matters.
Her tree series portrays the decorative and aesthetically pleasing nature of Darlington's work, with great use of texture, layer and build up of acrylic and not to mention the explosive bursts of colour throughout the pictorial space.
In May 2012 the artist was awarded Best-selling Published Artist by the Fine Art Trade Guild. The uniqueness within the artist work lays within the time and effort taken to make each Limited Edition unique and stand out in its own way. Darlington uses resin on top of the original paintings for a glossy shine rather than varnish and hand works on her prints in order to give a sense of individuality to each one. With each print being hand worked on too, by hand embellishing the back ground these too look like original paintings and this Is why the artist has had the growing success within her collections making her hugely popular and commercially sellable today. show less
