Alexander Millar

I was born in 1960 into the small mining community of Springside a few miles outside the town of Kilmarnock on the west coast of Scotland. Life within the small Scottish village was very traditional and although I grew up in the 60’s era it felt more like the 40’s. My formative years were spent in the company of old men dressed in dark suits smoking woodbines partnered with large missile-shaped women decked out in headscarves and pinnies.

Debra Stroud

My first creative attempt, at the age of two and a half, was to peel off the nursery freeze that my Mother had applied to the wall minutes earlier.I have always had a creative mind and as a child I used to send my inventions to various toy manufacturers. One of my designs was for an all enclosed sledge encapsulated in a sort of gyroscopic pod so that you stayed in a stable position as you hurtled down a snowy hill.

Govinder Nazran

“If you don’t want anybody to know anything about you – don’t write a song!”
I can’t remember where I heard this quote, but it serves well to explain how one’s personality is revealed through a song, or in my case, a painting.

Joy Kirton Smith

Joy Kirton-Smith inspiration stems from her interest in capturing the aesthetic qualities of the human form. To this end, her current images combine a contrast between form and flux, tangible entitles engulfed in a constantly changing environment. We are, therefore, presented with images that hint an eroticism and earthliness, whilst offering the reminder that all formations of being are transient.

Nadeem Chughtai

Most of the paintings I paint just happen with no pre planning. I do however like to catalogue my ideas so I can go back, should I wish, to them as a source of reference. I find listening to music while I paint extremely inspiring.

Rob Ford

When people ask me, “When did you start painting?” or, “What got you interested in art?” I have to reply, that I simply don’t know! It’s something that I have always done and always felt passionate about. When I look back at my childhood, I can remember wanting to stay late at nursery and primary school to finish my painting and if I remember correctly, I took the specialised art of ‘drawing on walls’ to a new level.
