Szikora, born and raised in Gateshead, North East England, discovered her passion for art at only 4 years old where, after an operation in hospital she sat on her bed drawing pictures despite having bandages over her eyes!
Studying illustration at Northern art colleges, she then went on to make 3D sculptures as a small business venture. Until 1993 when she decided to become a professional artist, and has never looked back.
Since going professional, she has exhibited at world famous stores Harrods and Selfridges, as well as many galleries up and down the country, and has now turned to the USA where her art is loved by many.
Her success and the popularity of her characters; the gingerbread man, fat and skinny people with tiny heads, and others besides, have been reproduced as sculptures, Royal Worcester crockery, jigsaw puzzles, stationary and Szikora has even released a hardback book about her art.
Szikora has realised her dream of being an artist and her art brings a smile to many faces. It looks as though her popularity and her loveable art are set to continue, gathering an even larger fan base by crossing the Atlantic to the USA.
