PAUL POWIS


Paul Powis began his training in the art of Birmingham College of Art and Design, for the study of a foundation of art and design between 1968-1969. He then went on to study at Portsmouth Polytechnic, gaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts with honors in 1973. The finishing his training as abstract painter, Pablo began lecturing, which has continued both in London and the provinces over the past 25 years. Since 1988, he has been professor of drawing and painting at the University of Central England.

Paul Powis has also exhibited widely since he was a student, and has built an enviable international reputation as a painter of landscapes. With exhibitions throughout the country in prestigious places like the Mall Galleries, London, the Royal College of Art in London and the Royal Festival Hall, London, Paul work has also appeared in the municipal museums and art galleries around the UK As well America. His painting, Rape, appeared in an ad for VW, achieve world recognition and was exhibited in the Museum of Modern Illustration in New York. His work has also been shown in Best Of British Illustration exhibition in the last ten years.

Paul Powis work is predominantly subjective about vibrant color and making brand, which are used in an abstract and representational. Paul's paintings have been published in more than 20 books in the past five years and is a regular contributor to magazines as an illustrator and artist. Since joining Washington Green, in May 1999, has had nine of his original published in limited edition silkscreens. A collection of his original acrylic also was recently exhibited at the Art Gallery Halcyon In Miniature exhibit.
