Malcolm roots are firmly planted in the northeast of England, an area whose character and landscape has been defined by its industrial history. Their ancestors were lead miners working at the seams bleak Alston Moor, and successive generations of coal mined in Tynedale and near Newcastle. Malcolm was born in the same district Elswick Newcastle in 1944, and lived and worked for much of his life around the city. Over the past 20 years he has lived in a market town in Northumberland.
Malcolm of the passion for painting has always been an integral part of his life. In his career as a teacher of his interest in art took up most of their free time, and more in recent years it has occupied three galleries in the Northeast and has devoted more time to his painting. He regularly holds solo exhibitions throughout the United Kingdom, and one such exhibition, "A Glimpse of the Great North", was televised by the BBC.
Much of the work of Malcolm has emerged from the industrial history of your local area. His love for these places and their genuine admiration for the scenes and characters that recreates everything comes in a strong sense of community and camaraderie that defines the totality of his work highly evocative. It is the honesty of his approach, which sets his work apart from his contemporaries, however; That has an extraordinary ability to convey the reality of daily life and the atmosphere of each scene, rather than simply recreate literal image.
