DREW DARCY

Born in 1976 in Shrewsbury, I am the mayor of two boys. Being the son of a doctor and a nurse, I was always in good hands from the start. My artistic flare may well have been transmitted from the side of my mother. It was one of a family of ten children. Music and art is a central part of growing up in Dublin. My grandfather was five generations of tailors and trained in Saville Row to become a measure to measure. He had three stores in Ireland, one of which was historic in Kilmainham, Dublin. By the side of my father, my grandfather was an industrial designer and an expert draftsman. Thus, the fabric was woven from the artist!

I remember drawing from an early age and was first introduced to oil painting at Stonyhurst College in Lancashire. I was in the fact that I could make my own indelible mark on my canvas, like the great painters before me. Hundreds of hours were spent in the "Salon de Arte," where I learned many of the techniques used today. I have given a lot of freedom in my art classes and has achieved a level of GCSE and at a level Art & Design. Turning to Birmingham, successfully completed a BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design at the School of Art Bourneville.

The waiting time for the paint to dry, I found that music and singing, creative writing is another outlet for me. He formed a band of guitar and spent several years performing throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. The music is still a passion respectful of mine. But I found myself constantly drawn to the canvas, and in 2002, I threw myself into my art and devoted all my time to develop my own unique style which I hope will lead me time out from the current position to the leading artists the world.

After showing and selling success of my work in some carefully selected galleries throughout the country, which later took the opportunity to show five new pieces in the Autumn Fair 2004 in Birmingham. This was my opportunity to get first-hand reaction by art collectors, galleries and many of the major publishing houses. I was overwhelmed with a great response to my work and this was a great boost to my confidence.
