Doug Hyde was born in Bristol in 1972, and his artistic talent became visible from an early age. During his school and college years he concentrated on the technical side of drawing and painting, but after graduating he chose to become a professional artist.
His use of pastels applied with fingers, thumbs, wrists and other body parts allows him more freedom to explore his chosen medium and makes his art more diverse and unique than other artists using the same medium.
In 2005 he won the “Best Selling Published Artist” at the Fine Art Trade Guild Awards. He also was recently named as the UK’s official best selling artist and has been featured on the BBC news and channel 4 where his unique technique and inspiration for his heart warming art was discussed in detail.
