Contemporary artist Debra Stroud was born in Surrey and grew up exploring the rolling hills and countryside of the surround area. Her childhood memories are filled with this, as well as holidays to Devon and Cornwall where the sea captivated her and inspired her to be the artist that she is today.
Debra says that the sea, and the way it is ever-changing is her main inspiration, the way that the ocean waves crash against the rocks, the sound of thunder that emanates from it and the way the sky is reflected, the ever-changing tides; all of this, she says, cries out to be captured on canvas.
She has previously won some prestigious awards, for example, in 2005 she received the “Best up and Coming Published Artist” award and in 2006 she won the “Best Published Artist” award. Which is a great accomplishment
