Clive works in pencil are true works of love, which is the result of many hours of work. Detail is constructed carefully, first working hard, soft leads, resulting in a dramatic impact. The wrinkled hide of a rhinoceros, or moist skin of a tiger swimming are done with great sensitivity, giving the animals a living presence and strong individuality. Clive believes that the value is as important as the portrait of the animal, giving true meaning of habitat and season.
Clive in the world of a hedgehog or a fox can strike as an image as a lion or tiger, everything is in the drama of the composition and dynamics of the tones of his pen. "Clive's work is vibrant and alive, it is a pleasure to see the images that not only animals but also their surroundings and are so beautifully described accurately." - Virginia McKenna, Born Free Foundation.
