CECIL RICE


Cecil Rice graduated from the Art School in Brighton in 1983. Cecil is well known for his strong and vibrant watercolors of landscapes and architecture. Cecil has a passion for Italy, especially in Venice, who visits regularly. The element that resonates throughout Cecil is that the work of light, Cecil comments "I am attracted by the way the bright light in a painting gives way to the deepest shadows. Inspiration comes in many forms, including that of his father Sean Rice, respected himself a sculptor. In terms of influential artists, who admires the work of the Norwich School, paintings by Turner, and the intensity of color and vitality of fluids found in the work of Emil Nolde.
