Born in Glasgow in 1958, my childhood was surrounded by the new confidence and optimism 60 from Britain. Carnaby Street, the Beatles and jobs for everyone! I was constantly exposed to new ideas, sounds and fashions. Everyone is encouraged to let their imaginations run free. From an early age I was immersed in the art. I was so happy with a session drawing platform for hours on end when I was playing football with my brothers.
My mother takes care of my interest in art; Being an avid crossword fan used for the drawing, while solving cryptic clues and took on this from an early age. At school I was as excited about the art experience I had at dinner. I often forgot to go home on time after becoming completely absorbed in a painting. Followed by Fine Arts School and spent a total of five years studying both fine art and graphic design.
On leaving university, I entered the world of advertising. Many years working in commercial material not erode my passion for art. I continued to produce pieces in my own time, experimenting with various medium and subject. I realized that in order to follow my dream I had to make an important decision. I chose to commit myself fully to my passion for art and became a full-time artist in 2005, a decision I have never regretted.
In everyday situations that tend to take mental snapshots of the animate and inanimate subjects. Maybe we are a knowing glance between two people or a reaction to a surprise. I have frequent brainstorming sessions, often with a glass of red wine in hand, it is amazing how many of these snapshots then resurface for use in my sketches! My work combines the real and the imaginary, and this is reflected in the finished pieces. My first inspirations are wide and varied, to see the Yellow Submarine animation as a child, reading about Leonardo Da Vinci in school.
Never cease to be amazed by Leonardo of the thirst for knowledge and technical influences include ability.Other, Renee Charles Mackintosh with his unique approach to his work and romantic Joseph Wright, for his amazing mastery of lighting. I aim to create art, creating a warm reaction from the viewer, to mirror my emotions when it was created. I am a positive person by nature an optimist and my wine glass is always half full! I am comfortable as the creation of three-dimensional works in two dimensions. The sheer pleasure of creating something completely different is immeasurable.
